AbstractLarge lunar settlements will require use of local resources. This paper presents an assessment of lunar resources, based on measured concentrations of elements in lunar samples and theoretical considerations. Prospecting for resources can begin immediately, using available data from remote sensing and sample analysis. In the long run, we need to develop a strategy for resource exploration and to train scientists in planetary economic geology.
