Abstract Cycle time optimization in signal coordination does not attract due attention of engineers while offsets are the center of the problems of coordination. This paper shows the fundamental relationships between cycle time and delay as well as number of stops of a signalized street link based on the simplification assumptions together with the results of a field experiment. The paper then shows that cycle time can be optimized through on-line feedback techniques and demonstrates the results of an experiment made by the author.
