Abstract The Saint-Santin incoherent scatter radar was operated during the first LTCS campaign with only the receiver of Nançay. The E region was scanned during day-time, the F region during night-time, while the 300 km level was observed during the whole core-period, 21–25 September 1987. Time variations of the electron density, of the electron and ion temperatures and of the meridional component of the ion velocity have been deduced, as well as the variations of the computed meridional component of the F region neutral wind. We outline the main features of these parameters for further comparative studies.
