AbstractTheoretical dependence of microwave absorption spectrum in droplet clouds is considered. Peculiarities of absorption spectrum as function of cloud temperature over frequency ranges ∼10–45, ∼75–115 and ∼125–160 GHz are discussed. On the basis of model calculations, the variations of outgoing brightness temperature over ocean resulted from cloud parameters changes are estimated. The measurements of cloud microwave emission from the R V Academician Alexander Nesmeyanov are presented. Ship experimental data are used to estimate the influence of antenna smoothing from satellite observations.
