Abstract Watershed Response Analysis (WARA) model has been developed to study soil erosion and hydrological responses of Doddahalla watershed of Tungabhadra-Krishna river basin in Karnataka State, India. Towards this, vegetation density and soil texture maps are prepared from Indian Remote Sensing Satellite (IRS)-LISS 2 data of September 1989 and November 1989. The drainage density and slope angle maps are generated from existing topographic maps. All the maps are converted in the form of digital layers and integrated by assigning appropriate weightage factors to provide a quick appraisal on soil erosion, surface runoff and infiltration potentials of various land units within the watershed.
