Abstract Specialist literature on priority intersections provides formulas for calculating mean waiting-times and mean queue lengths for the traffic flow which has to give way (minor road). In the present paper, these results on mean values are extended to yield formulas for the corresponding distributions. This is achieved by developing a queueing-theory approach which is applied to a formula due to Tanner. The results are subject to the assumption of the vehicle arrivals in both the minor and the major road flows being distributed according to the Poisson law.
