Abstract ASTRO-D is the fourth X-ray astronomy mission of ISAS, scheduled for launch in early 1993. It will carry nested thin-foil X-ray mirrors providing a large effective area over a wide energy range up to 12 keV. A set of CCD cameras and imaging gas scintillation proportional counters will be placed on the focal plane. ASTRO-D will be a high-throughput imaging and spectroscopic observatory with these instruments.
