Abstract The influence of a homogeneous interstellar magnetic field of arbitrary magnitude and orientation on the shape of the heliosphere in the 3-dimensional case is studied in the Newtonian approximation. The model gives for the standard solar wind and the standard interstellar wind a flattened paraboloid-like heliopause with two fundamental symmetry planes.
