AbstractTwo models for estimating the turning motion resistance of a braked track are discussed and compared for practical application in order to reduce the turning motion resistance. A theoretical analysis of both models is presented. These models are found to estimate the values satisfactory. One grouser pattern is proposed for the practical application for the purpose of reducing turning motion resistance. A circular shaped contact area of the braked track under turning motion of the vehicle is recommended.
