Abstract Simulations are used to examine the quality of the images that may be expected from space VLBI. These simulations, for the first time, included realistic (i.e., both random and systematic) amplitude and phase errors. A series of blind tests was also undertaken. The spacecraft constraints of VSOP have also been examined to see how they impact the scientific return of this mission.
