Abstract The mean meridional and zonal-vertical circulations in Pacific region have been analyzed by using 1965–1973 monthly mean satellite cloudiness. The general patterns are rather similar to the results calculated by using the rawin data. Furthermore over the open seas where the conventional data are lack, the results obtained from satellite data may be better and more detailed for describing the actual atmospheric circulation.
