Abstract The X-ray imaging capability of the Einstein Observatory has provided new observational material in many branches of astrophysics. In this contribution we will review the implications of the X-ray observations for the classification of clusters, the formation of SO galaxies, and the interaction of the galaxies with the intracluster gas.
