Abstract Multiple-ion models of plasma boundaries are studied by analytical means and hybrid code simulations. Generalized Rankine-Hugoniot relations can be derived describing modified transition conditions at multiple-ion plasma boundaries. The results are applied to the plasma environments of Mars and comet Halley.
