Under construction is TINRO-I -- 35 ft long, 10 ft diam vessel, displacing 35 to 40 metric tons, and able to dive to almost 1000 ft; with two viewing ports and double hull, it will carry up to five people, cruise underwater by battery-powered motor at 4 knots, and have maximum underwater speed of 6 knots; vessel will be unusual in that it will also have 64-hp diesel auxiliary power plant to drive it at 8 knots on surface; range will be 1200 nautical mi on surface and 100 nautical mi underwater.
