Offtracking characteristics of single-unit trucks and trailer combinations are described; offtracking results were obtained by use of scale model vehicles making turns on radii ranging from 25 to 255 ft; it was determined that offtracking measurements of trailer combination may be calculated by adding offtracking measurements of individual vehicles in combination; offtracking is greatest when projection of rear axle axis passes through turning radius center, even though projections of other axles on vehicle or trailer combination do not pass through turning radius center at same time.
