Closed transportation system where number of cars are assigned to ship goods from one source to any number of destinations; such systems are common to all modes of transportation (surface, marine and air); mathematical models are developed for car pools in railroad transportation; models resemble inventory models and are also applicable to similar systems in other modes of transportation.
