Author analyzed 2180 tests on 99 fuels; for 1882 tests made under standard procedure, probable error for average of these fuels was 0. 465 octane unit; precision of rating was very nearly same for straight-run gasolines, for blends of straight-run and cracked and for leaded fuels of any base.
