Built at Wallsend Shipyard of Swan, Hunter and Wigham Richardson; length bp 410 ft; breadth molded 57 ft 3 in.; depth molded to shelter deck 38 ft; first vessel to be fitted with Parsons Simplex unit set of geared turbine machinery which, in conjunction with fairly high-pressure boilers, is expected to result in high degree of economy for ships of this class.
