Gear developed by H. F. Hobbs, of Australia, is automatic in operation, providing low gear ratio when resistance to motion of car is high, and direct drive when car is traveling fast against light resistance; at all speeds it automatically adjusts gear ratio to suit relation between resistance to motion and power developed by engine.
