Buckling of aerodynamic surfaces may have adverse effect on aircraft performance; temperature distributions for which buckling occurs should be known; it may not be feasible to design structure which will not buckle and for these cases magnitude of distortions should be known in order that their effect on aircraft performance may be estimated; approximate method given.
