Details of jet engines, byproduct, or ramjet, hydropulse, hydroturbojet, solid and liquid rocket; role of solid rocket, but other systems offer advantages of greater range for shallower operation limit of speed imposed by body cavitation phenomenon and power density limits; rocket and other jet systems offer greater underwater speeds for reduced ranges than attainable with rotating powerplants; systems are also free of problem of propulsor cavitation at all depths.
