Test philosophy applied to evaluate equipment for spacecraft and missiles relates time at resonance with expected time of service vibration, i.e. time of powered flight; it is argued that, in tests which employ constant level of acceleration control, average Q actually must increase with increase in resonant frequency; therefore, suitable sweep rate must be one which changes with fractional power of test frequency, rather than with first power.
