Use of polyamides is now estimated close to 1 lb/car, in United States and in Europe; since average size and weight of European cars is smaller than American automobiles, use of nylons in Europe is higher percentagewise; application areas include fuel lines, timing belts, metal coatings, etc; other types of composites, polyurethane or polyethylene for fabricated parts, such as reinforced hoses, hydraulic brakes, and rotomolded tanks are employed.
