To provide comparative data relating to brake evaluation and testing procedures, combined effort by American Motors Corp, Chrysler Corp, General Motors Corp, and Ford Motor Co was initiated under auspices of Automobile Manufacturers Assn Passenger Car Brake Committee; criteria, test procedures, and evaluation program; data presented include car specifications and equipment, route followed, and complete temperature record for each car; conclusions are based on maximum brake temperatures recorded under various conditions encountered during these trips.
