Outcome of Hamilton Committee, set up by Ministry of Aviation in 1962, is present Approved Training Scheme; its basic principle is close integration of flying with ground training; professional ab initio student flies total of 230 hr during his course of just over 1 yr; 195 hr are carried out on single-engine aircraft and remainder on twins; scope and organization of Oxford Air Training School, cooperation with British airline corporations, BOAC and BEA, and future programs; selection of candidates, advanced courses, and syllabus of future; establishment of joint military/civil pilot selection center is urged.
