Description of slide problems on 17-mi stretch of Southern California's Pacific Coast Highway; discussion of remedial considerations which include relocation of traffic by building alternate freeway around slide stretch, eliminating water by drilling drains under bluffs and installing catch basins and surface drains, and by cutting of berms and transferring earth to base of bluffs for counterbalancing weight of earth mass above.
