On Apr 27, 1961, 4-stage research rocket was fired from Wallops Island, Va, to measure ionospheric electron density distribution by means of J.C.Seddon's CW (continuous wave) propagation technique, indexed in Engineering Index 1953 p 538; result, when compared with satellite and other data, indicates that upper ionosphere is in thermodynamic equilibrium.
