Study of lateral motion of satellite vehicles entering earth's atmosphere; simple method appears to be adequate for studying small entry angle trajectories for lift drag ratios up to about 1.5; bank angles of 45° tend to yield maximum lateral range; numerical studies indicate that neglect of earth's rotation in calculations may introduce errors of as much as 10% in resultant lateral range.
