Importance of fanning action of propeller blades in ship vibration; net force and moment on wall are zero for all lightly loaded propellers having two or more blades; it is shown that wall would vibrate, and formula is given for vibratory deflections; nonuniform inflow gives non-zero vibratory forces; note on possible relation to destroyer design.
