Axisymmetric mode of deformation of cylinders subjected to compressive end loads is examined with aid of available theory; stresses and deformations obtained with theory are compared with those of 7075-T6 Al-alloy cylinder with high internal pressure; behavior of cylinder was in agreement with predictions; pertinence to aircraft fuselage and missiles.
