Failings of system used in carrier landings operation, namely Batsman-Pilot combination, is examined; principles and description of mirror landing sight, used by both Royal Navy and US Navy; its application to aircraft carrier; system provides accurate glide slope in space which can be set up to accommodate all types of aircraft; it further shows pilot sense of any error in glide slope; magnitude of his error, and indication of rate at which he is departing from, or returning to, correct glide path.
