Advantages of solid fuel ramjet which can attain range two or three times that of comparable sized rocket in flight through atmosphere; design and operational features of experimental ramjet under development at US Naval Ordnance Test Station (NOTS), China Lake, Calif; experimentation done with split flow combustor, in which burning takes place on inner surface only; tests carried out with fuels based on aluminum and boron; need for more data is stressed.
