Feasibility study of its use for speed and flight path control during approach phase made with North American Fighter-bomber having J57-P-21A turbojet engine; design development through wind tunnel program selecting and adjusting exhaust gas patterns; flight test program showed that reverser selected produced adequate reverse thrust, up to 40% of net forward thrust, with small effects on aircraft stability, trim, and handling characteristics.
