During 1959, study of passenger cars and single unit trucks was conducted to determine effect of variation of highway surface type and operating speeds on fuel consumption, and effect of elimination of both stop-and-go and slowdown operation on fuel and time consumption at various operating speeds; graphic and tabular material developed will serve in estimating time and fuel benefits accruing through highway improvements.
