Paper describes systems from three aspects: historical (from Newton and Laplace to present), philosophical (treating parallel between learning process and systems viewpoint) and practical, in which specific examples of systems are presented; it is pointed out how solutions of systems problems which contain people employ concepts and mathematical techniques, largely borrowed from physical and engineering sciences.
