New heat-treating service, more particularly for aircraft industry inaugurated by Metallurgical Laboratories, Philadelphia, is described; electric installation specially designed for handling spars, wing beams, straight tubing, and axles; finished pieces quenched by lowering into tank directly below; furnace is vertical so that long and generally tubular parts can be suspended in it.
