It is stated that use of gaseous fuel for airships is not a new idea and was first used in 1872 in 3-hp. Lenoir gas engine of P. Haenlein's airship; author traces development in use of gas fuel, and gives results of experiments with use of Blaugas in Maybach engines of Graf Zeppelin.
