Consideration of factors that influence squeaking; brake drum, brake shoes, and all supports should have greatest degree of rigidity possible; brake-lining material should be selected from one of well-known proprietary makes; brake-shoe are should be limited at toe; when conditions are on borderline of noisiness any change leading to increase of friction may cause return to noisiness.
