Good training in terrestrial navigation, good understanding in aeronautical meteorology, and knowledge of astronomical navigation, if flying over ocean, are needed by pilot; knowledge of adjusting airplane compass and correcting for variation and deviation, of correcting course for drift, of finding and applying drift, of finding speed over ground, and of finding course and distance between two places is necessary.
