This line, highest of its kind, is in two stages, reaching altitude of 2660 m.; four lines of cable are used in double sets and each car carries 17 passengers; from Gare des Pelerins, near Chamonix, at altitude of 105 m., it climbs in two stages to Gare du Glacier; 2260 m. high, a distance of 3380 m.; carries cables composed of 259 strands of 3-mm. wire of single pieces; pylons are of similar design throughout but stronger on second section, which has 19 in all; maximum gradient is 120 per cent.
