Authors advocate use of separate motor for each machine, advantages being reduction in speed of starting up by from 30 to 13 sec., saving in maintenance, increased efficiency, saving in space, greater freedom in choice of position for machine, cleanliness, more constant speed, greater safety of working; difficulty for motor designer is to obtain motor giving necessary high starting torque in space available.
