Law case concerns passenger motorships Sud Americano and Sud Expreso, built by Deutsche Werke for Sud Americana, of Oslo; vessels were returned to builders because of faulty design and construction of machinery; evidence before Court revealed irreconciliability of technical and legal viewpoints; according to verdict, Sud Americano Line was justified in returning vessels, because, due to frequent failures of main engines, scheduled sailings of ships could not be maintained; author deems decision untenable from technical viewpoint.
