Theory of wave resistance requires evaluation of Michell integral for ship form, and hence mathematical delineation of form; author illustrates methods involved in particular case; waterplanes and frame section of form are given; results obtained check well with Taylor's standard series; advantage of bulbous bow is brought out. (see also brief translated abstract in Mar. Engr. and Motorship Bldr., vol. 54, no. 640, Jan. 1931, p. 33)
