Universally applicable, rule-of-thumb law for transonic design established by National Advisory Committee for Aeronautics; rule is based on idea that drag of wing/body combination could be reduced by remolding fuselage to follow local streamlines; rule applies to any form of body designed to pass through transonic regime.
