Methods considered include uprating basic engine, afterburning, fluid injection, fitting additional highly rated jet engines, and use of rocket motors; it is concluded that rocket motor is very attractive method of improving performance of interceptor aircraft at high altitudes for short periods; if longer periods are required, afterburning may well be most simple method.
