In author's opinion, there is more important kind of efficiency than horsepower per cubic inch; most owners want from their engines to just have them run with minimum of attention or expense; it is shown how inadequately 1956 engines meet this need; because of various reasons mentioned, horsepower race is costing public money, which they have to pay for every new high powered car they buy.
