Instrument Landing System, I.L.S., is pilot operated ground installation providing continuous information in form of indications on cross-pointer meter in aircraft; system provides course and glide path to enable pilot to bring aircraft in safely from some 30 mi to within 150 ft of runway bar lighting system; equipment developed by Pye Telecommunications.
