Two ultra-light weight drilling rigs have been constructed for use in remote Putumayo jungle region of Southwestern Colombia; each rig can be divided into loads not exceeding 4000 lb for helicopter transport; departure from conventional rig design results in rear gin poles of mast being used to support part of rig floor; this design reduces rig weight and bulk by eliminating conventional substructure and substituting 3-ft substructure; components and accessory rig equipment.
