Recent developments in methods and equipment for assessment of subsoil conditions in construction schemes in rivers, docks or harbors and other maritime works include improvements in drilling methods, design of boring towers and in some aspects of location control, geophysical and hydrographic surveying; decca hi-fix system for position fixing and location control, vacuum reflex sonar beacon; tellurometer and hydrodist for measuring distances, submarine and light-weight rock core drills; amphibious boring tower, self-elevating platforms and continuous seismic profiler are described.
