Program of centralized traffic control implemented on 40 main-line subdivisions totaling 4500 mi of single track of Canadian National Railroads; siding-tosiding running times as each train proceeds, are interpolated from series of time-distance tables; for train of given characteristics, program simulates its movement over section of track, taking into account elevation, curvature, speed limits and temporary slow orders; because of limited storage in computer, simulation was divided into optimum path routine, dispatching program and statistical analysis.
